Rare manuscripts such as this one, perhaps the most famous example of an ancient Book of the Dead, are difficult for scholars to access as the originals are often fragile and not available for general study.

Through such facsimiles, scholars and amateurs alike can have access to these manuscripts without compromising their condition. Book of the dead
The Book of the Dead is the modern name of a funerary text from Ancient Egypt used from the beginning of the new Empire (around 1550 BC) until 50 BC.
The text consisted of a series of recitations designed to help the deceased overcome Osiris'trail, assist them in their journey thorugh the Duat, the underworld, and travel to Aaru, in the afterlife.
